Dear all,
The British Land Reclamation Society (BLRS) and Brownfield Briefing are hosting a Joint Seminar on: Brownfield Reuse: the Key to Building a Sustainable Future
Tuesday 10th July – Central London
This is an unique opportunity to hear the Minister responsible for the National Planning Policy Framework explain how it is designed to work to improve the planning process and to debate how effective regulation can be maintained and sustainability achieved
Over the last year BLRS have organised a series of Breakfast Seminars at various venues throughout the country at Salford, Birmingham, Stratford East, Nottingham and Sunderland which were designed to draw the attention of delegates to the proposed new National Planning Policy Framework. This was the subject of a consultation period where a record number of responses were critical of the proposals and which was formally introduced in association with the Chancellor’s Budget speech in late March.
This seminar is intended to examine the implications of the new planning arrangements with special reference to the way in which it seeks to ensure that all future developments are approved only if they can be demonstrated to be sustainable according to the criteria described in the new Framework.
BLRS & BB have been fortunate to have persuaded Bob Neill the Minister for Local Government & Planning to provide the opening presentation as the Government spokesman on this radical the approach to the planning process.
The attached brochure details the full programme of speakers dealing with many of the difficulties which were envisaged with the original proposals.
The objective of the seminar is to fully assess the way in which the new Framework will achieve its objectives and the problems it is likely to create for all involved with the new process and especially the special position of the regulators.
The seminar will be held in a Central London venue in Hallam Street near Portland Square - come and contribute to the debate about the future of the regeneration industry.
Best Wishes
Paul Nathanail
PS You don't have to stay for the last speaker!
