Research Assistant – Neurolex Post 2

Salary: £23,881 - £26,779 pa
Applications are invited for a Research Assistant to work as part of an interdisciplinary team in the Neurolex group, led by Professor William Marslen-Wilson. The successful applicant will support research into the comprehension of spoken language, working cross-linguistically, and primarily using neuro-imaging techniques. You will be expected to contribute to the research programme by analysing neuroimaging data from experiments and assisting the development of in-house analysis software.
You should have a good first degree in computer sciences or a related physical or mathematical sciences field (such as statistics, biomedical engineering). A Masters degree is desirable but not essential. You should have experience in programming in Matlab or similar languages, e.g. JAVA, C/C++. A good working knowledge of the Linux operating system, signal processing, time-series analysis and machine learning is highly desirable. Knowledge or experience of neuroimaging (MRI and MEG), and associated statistical and nonparametric analysis methods, would also be beneficial but not essential as training will be provided.
You will be required to work methodically, and be well organised with attention to detail. The ability to demonstrate effective multidisciplinary team working, working to deadlines, and a strong interest in research are essential for a project of this duration.
