Dear Psci-comm users.
I am currently working on behalf of Manchester Development Education Project as part of their Science for Global Citizenship Project. As part of this project DEP have developed a Young Inventor's School's Programme. This is a Science programme of one hour sessions with themed activities introducing processes of invention within a global context. The sessions can be run as part of lessons, enrichment day or as an after school club. Each theme explores aspects of invention, design and real world applications.
DEP are going to be running an event for Manchester Secondary schools YR 8/9 pupils, on the 27th June 2012 with hands on activities based on the Inventor's programme themes. The day will run as a carousel of workshops, with each workshop repeated four times so that each student group can take part.
We are looking for an inspirational speaker who can give examples of their own work in science and development to start off the day and then also run one of the workshops. We also require another facilitator to run a further workshop. The two workshop themes that remain to be filled are 'Water poverty' and 'Food poverty'.
If anyone is interested in this or can recommend someone who you think would be then please get in contact for more information.
Kind Regards,
Sally Veitch
