If you work with data and statistics in your science communication work then you might be interested in the Royal Statistical Society's upcoming workshop on using statistics in public relations.
We are delivering this in collaboration with the STEM group of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations. (The workshop is worth five CPD points for CIPR members.)
The workshop is primarily aimed at those with little or no formal education in statistics, though can be a useful refresher for those who know some statistics. The focus is on communication with non-expert audiences.
Headline topics are:
* statistical basics
* the use of surveys
* sourcing, analysing and visualising data
* avoiding statistical pitfalls
More details are at www.rss.org.uk/stats-pr<http://www.rss.org.uk/stats-pr> where you can also download the registration form.
Costs are £50 for RSS and CIPR-STEM members; £75 otherwise. This includes a twelve month subscription to the Society's magazine, Significance, which is aimed at a non-expert audience. See www.significancemagazine.org<http://www.significancemagazine.org>
