Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in computational chemistry/biophysics at the Goethe University Frankfurt/Main, Germany (E13 TV-G-U, full time).
The position is available in the group of Dr. Lars Schäfer, on the topic of molecular dynamics (MD) simulations and modeling of membrane-protein systems. The goal of the project is to obtain a detailed understanding - at the atomic level - of the structure-dynamics relationships that underlie protein function. Key challenges are conformational transitions as well as protein-protein and protein-lipid interactions. The topic directly relates to projects within the local Collaborative Research Center SFB 807 (Transport and Communication across Biological Membranes).
Candidates should be highly motivated and should have a PhD degree in natural sciences (corresponding to the German "Dr. rer. nat."). Experience in biomolecular modeling and molecular dynamics simulations (or related techniques) is expected. Strong local expertise is available in all-atom and coarse-grained MD and QM/MM methods, as well as with excited-state processes and quantum dynamics via collaborations within the department. The simulations will be conducted on state-of-the-art high-performance computing facilities.
Applications should be sent until June 30, 2012 and should include a brief statement why you are interested in the position, CV, and publication list. Two letters of recommendation should be made available. Please address your application to Dr. Lars Schäfer. Applications may also be sent by email. For further information, please contact Dr. Lars Schäfer.
The contract is fixed term, based on the regulations of the "Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz" and the "Hessische Hochschulgesetz". Initial appointment is for 1 year, with possible extension upon mutual agreement. The University is an equal opportunity employer and strongly encourages women to apply. In case of equal qualification, preference will be given to applicants with disabilities.
