Dear colleagues
David E. Bick's "The Old Metal Mines of Mid-Wales: Part Four--West Montgomeryshire" p. 8 mentions that the mine at Rhoswydol (or Rhoswydel) was operated in the 1780s by a "Townsend & Co."
Can any one tell me about about "Townsend & Co." or about the history of 18th century mining at Rhoswydol?
I am primarily interested in the mining ventures of Chauncy Townsend/Townshend, but he died in 1770, so it seems unlikely that he was involved with this mine in the 1780s.
Yours Richard VandeWetering
