PROFESSOR OF SOCIAL MEDIA
The University of Westminster is expanding its research capacity with a New Academic Leaders Initiative, which includes the appointment of a Professor of Social Media.
The successful candidate will join the Communication and Media Research Institute, rated #1 in the UK for media and communications research in the most recent RAE (2008).
We are looking for:
* A candidate with a reputation for world-leading research on any aspect of social media, which may include their social, political or cultural implications
* Able to lead development of our new MA in Social Media (starts 2013)
* A strong record in attracting external funding and in managing projects
* A successful user of social media in academic and other networks
* A passion for both teaching and research
* An entrepreneurial approach to innovation in teaching and research
* Engagement with relevant industries
* An approach to research based in any of the social sciences
Appointment is normally within the salary range of £56,000 - £72,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and achievement.

MeCCSA is the subject association for the field of media, communication and cultural studies in UK Higher Education. Membership is open to all who teach and research these subjects in HE institutions, via either institutional or individual membership. The field includes film and TV production, journalism, radio, photography, creative writing, publishing, interactive media and the web; and it includes higher education for media practice as well as for media studies.
