OurBeeb.com: an invitation to programme-makers to discuss the future of the BBC
Launched as an independent section of openDemocracy, ourBeeb is a digital challenge to the old order, seeking to make the BBC’s next Director General accountable to the public, and debate the future of our BBC. This is a critical time for public service broadcasting, and the challenges of massive cuts and rapid technological change must be addressed head on.
We want to hear from programme-makers working both inside and outside of the BBC. What are the greatest challenges facing the Beeb? What are the greatest opportunities? What should the next DG’s priorities be?
We want you to draw on your experience in broadcasting to share your vision of the future of Britain’s most important cultural institution. This can take two forms:
1) An open letter to the next Director General, 300-800 words long.
2) A short piece to camera addressing the same issues, 5-10 minutes long.
