Twelve Graduate Teaching Assistantships/PhD Studentships
Edge Hill University is one of the fastest growing universities in the

The Faculty of Arts and Sciences is home to a large and diverse group of
disciplines with a track record of excellence in research, much of which
crosses traditional disciplinary boundaries. We are particularly keen to
continue to build our research capacity, and welcome applications for up
to 12 PhD studentships to be held in a range of subject areas across the
Faculty. These will be combined with Graduate Teaching Assistantships.
The Studentships
Each studentship includes a full waiver of postgraduate tuition fees as
well as free single room postgraduate student accommodation on campus.
GTAs will teach for up to six hours teaching per week. An annual stipend
in the region of £7,380 will be paid at monthly intervals. Research
proposals are invited in the following areas:
Biology and Environmental Science
Business and Management
Computing
English
History
Law and Criminology
Media and the Creative Industries
Performing Arts
Psychology
Social Sciences
Sport and Physical Activity
Duties and Responsibilities
Students will be expected to:
Successfully undertake an initial programme of accredited research
training.
Undertake a PhD programme of research under the supervision of an
appointed supervisory team.
Enhance the research culture of the Department in which they are
located and the University by participating in events, conferences and
training.
How to apply
Applicants must submit the following:
A 'Research Proposal' which should not exceed 2,000 words in length
A full academic CV
Two independent academic references using the form provided
A completed application form
Applicants should normally have, or be about to obtain, a Masters
qualification in a subject relevant to the studentship for which they
are applying. Selection will be based on your CV, the quality of the
research proposal and performance at interview. Applications should be

MeCCSA is the subject association for the field of media, communication and cultural studies in UK Higher Education.
