The Centre for Health Technology Evaluation (CHTE) develops Technology Appraisal guidance and guidance on the use of medical devices, diagnostic tests and procedures in the NHS. In addition, the Centre is responsible for the Patient Access Scheme Liaison Unit, the Scientific Advice programme and it hosts the NICE Topic Selection Programme.
Job opportunities are available immediately for technical analysts in the Technology Appraisals Programme. This programme assesses the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness mainly of pharmaceutical products. Analysts in this programme carry out activities relating to the assessment of the clinical and cost effectiveness of health technologies including scoping, liaising with manufacturers, academic and stakeholder groups, and presenting the evidence base to the Appraisal Committee. In addition, they advise the Committee on key technical issues, draft guidance to the NHS, and provide advice to companies on technical matters related to development of evidence on clinical and cost effectiveness of health technologies.
We are looking for analysts with a variety of skills and backgrounds from health economics, medical statistics, clinical trials, epidemiology or related areas. You will need to be an enthusiastic analyst with a relevant postgraduate qualification (e.g. health economics, public health, clinical pharmacology, health service research). You should have the ability to analyse complex clinical and cost-effectiveness evidence for presentation to a Committee, and write technical documents to the highest standard.
