Field Surveyor - North Of England - £Neg - 3 Months initially
I am currently seeking a Field Surveyor who is based in the North Of England, this is because the majority of sites will be in that area.
Project overview
Project involves the collection and maintenance of Ordnance Survey data in accordance with their new Geobase data specification. The specification covers all aspects of Ordnance Survey data including MasterMap, Address, and Transport and Small-scales.
The majority of the data is collected from aerial imagery by my client’s offshore team of Photogrammetry Editors using an image-sweep methodology supplemented by Change Intelligence information provided by Ordnance Survey.
The team will encounter edits that cannot be resolved solely from the imagery and will raise an FRA (Field Reviser’s Attention) in each circumstance. The surveyor will be required to address FRA edits raised by the Photogrammetry Editing team.
•Primary requirement is to supplement data captured photogrammetrically. Data comprises updates to existing mapping rather than new mapping
•Surveyors will be required to undertake field verification and validation of features captured photogrammetrically. Surveyor will be provided with a set of field checks in an ESRI SHP file together with the corresponding imagery and OS MasterMap data
•Work will need to be undertaken on an ad-hoc basis.
•Location could be anywhere in Great Britain but should be located within 25km of a central location at any given time.
•Features to be validated could be located anywhere with the area and need not necessarily be located in close proximity.
•Typical density is less than 1 edit per sq km
•Edits are to be returned in SHP format supplemented by evidence such as photographs, field measurements and the like.
•Features to be validated include general topographic, address information for new properties, road/routing information
•Traditional, instrument-based topo survey is likely to be minimal. It is expected that majority of work is likely to require graphical and/or visual methods only. Measurements are likely to be via ‘Disto’/Tape in order to verify the proposed changes from the Photogrammetry Editor rather to capture features afresh.
•Work will be commissioned as a package of ‘edits’ and will need to be priced on a ‘per edit’ basis.
Ideal Skillset
1.Significant understanding of large-scale Ordnance Survey data, including feature depiction, feature coding, addressing and road routing.
2.Good understanding of OS MasterMap data and feature coding
3.Ability to relate aerial imagery to OS MasterMap data and the real-world
4.Intermediate skills in ArcGIS
5.Ability to work autonomously anywhere in Great Britain in a methodical and consistent manner
6.Proven survey experience
The role will be a contract initially for 3 months but will extend beyoned this date. You must have your own car and milage will be paid.
If you are avialable please forward your CV to Jon Graham at Triad Resourcing.
