Foreign Policy Program
General Information:
The Brookings-LSE Project on Internal Displacement of the Foreign Policy Studies Program is seeking a full time, offsite research intern beginning in June. Candidates with a graduate degree or currently pursuing a graduate degree are encouraged to apply.
The position will entail providing research support to two fellows at the Project. It is an offsite position so the intern will be responsible for working independently, with regular communication, and meeting with the DC-based fellows a twice a week. The research will be on internal displacement, development-induced displacement and forced migration with a focus on gender analysis and analysis of the role of local governments in humanitarian responses.
Please note that all internships are unpaid. Performance evaluations at the end of the internship period usable for academic and job application purposes may be available. Internships generally run from June through August, though exact start/end dates are flexible.
Principal duties and responsibilities may include:
Research
Undertake research into issues of internal displacement, in support of particular research projects and activities being undertaken by two fellows.
Contribute to reports, papers, and briefing memos.
Attend meetings on behalf of the Project and prepare memoranda on issues raised.
Requirements
Professional and personal interest in the topical areas outlined above.
Commitment to research work, and familiarity with desk-research methods.
Strong computer skills and familiarity with online research tools and methodologies.
Ability to work independently with strong communications skills.
