Responsibilities
As Assistant Professor of International Relations/European Integration you will develop and teach high-quality courses in International Relations and European Integration as part of the Political Science study programme (BA/MA) and will supervise students writing their Bachelor’s and Master’s theses. Your research will contribute to the research programme ‘Distributive Conflict in a Globalizing World: Consequences for State-Market-Civil Society Arrangements’ and should result in publications in leading international journals. You will also be required to write funding proposals. There is a 60/40 teaching time/research time ratio. 
  
Work environment
The Nijmegen School of Management (NSM) is an academic centre of research and higher learning. There are seven departments within NSM: Business Administration, Public Administration, Political Science, Economics, Social and Political Sciences of the Environment, Human Geography, and Spatial Planning. Altogether, NSM employs 220 full-time staff. NSM offers education to about 3,000 students. 

The Department of Political Science has a strong reputation for offering high-quality teaching by a dynamic and inspiring team. It hosts national and international experts in Comparative Politics, International Relations/European Integration, and Political Theory. In the Institute for Management Research, they cooperate with scholars from conflict studies, economics, and public administration in the research programme Distributive Conflict in a Globalizing World (DisCon). DisCon investigates and evaluates the impact of globalization on (potential) distributional conflicts (regarding both material and immaterial issues) within social systems, their effect on the nature of the arrangements between states, markets, and civil society, as well as the means and strategies aiming at preventing or managing such (potential) conflicts. 
  
What we expect from you
You have a PhD in the social sciences and have demonstrable expertise in the field of international relations. Specific expertise in (new) security and the history and theories of European integration is an advantage. You are an enthusiastic team worker. You are able and motivated to contribute to the academic debate on international relations/European integration, as evidenced by publications in leading international academic journals. Furthermore, you should have the ability to acquire research funds. You should have teaching experience, excellent didactic skills, and a good command of the English language. You will be expected to have a demonstrable command of Dutch within three years. 
  
What we have to offer

We offer you:
- employment: 0,8 - 1,0 fte;
- in addition to the salary: an 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% end-of-year bonus;
- Radboud University Nijmegen has excellent conditions of employment. The salary depends on qualifications and experience;
- duration of the contract: 4 years maximum. Excellent candidates may be offered a contract for an indefinite period of time; 
- you will be appointed as an Assistant Professor (UD).
