*** Apologies for cross-posting***
Dear all,
The Dean Heritage Centre has recently acquired the Dennis Potter Archive, which mainly contains holograph and typed manuscripts. The DHC is interested in promoting access to the Archive, as it is a wonderful resource that provides an intriguing insight into workings of a screenwriter in "the only medium that really counts" (Dennis Potter). However, the archive is still under copyright law because it has only been 18 years since Potter's death in 1994.
I would be interested in hearing other institutions experiences of handling a collection that is still subjected to copyright law. I would be particularly interested in knowing, how the copyright has been managed between the institution and the copyright owner, the effect of the copyright on the research potential of the collection and how the institution has handled access to rare, unpublished materials.
I will feedback any information provided.
Thanks,
Phillippa Turner
