Welcome to the 250th edition of the ALT fortnightly news digest.

1. ALT News

1.1	Google
In line with Google's announcement during the 2011 ALT Conference, ALT 
will this year be working with Google to run a competition to seek out 
and celebrate examples of excellent uses of Google Apps in learning and 
teaching. We intend to make a detailed announcement about this in due 
course. The closing date for entries is likely to be towards the end of 
June, with winners announced at the 2012 ALT Conference in Manchester.

1.2 Call for expressions of interest in membership of each of ALT's four 
main operational committees
This will be issued in June 2012, with the closing date likely to be in 
early September, for those appointed to take part in their first 
committee meeting in October.

1.3 Your ALT Newsletter needs You!
ALT is a membership organisation, and the quality of what we can do for 
our members is often driven by what we can do ourselves to help the 
broader community of practitioners. This is particularly true with the 
ALT Newsletter. To this end, we are always receptive to new ideas and on 
the lookout for new content.

1.4 Any employee of an ALT member organisation is entitled to join ALT

3.1 Opportunities at the IOE (London Knowledge Lab)
The Institute of Education, London, has launched a programme of 
strategic recruitment. We hope very much that at least one of the posts 
at lecturer or senior lecturer level will be based at the London 
Knowledge Lab. The field of sociology of technology, would be a 
particularly attractive - though not exclusive - field of expertise for

4.1 Employer Engagement in a Digital Age - University of Greenwich, 4
July 2012
The 10th annual APT conference, sponsored by the HEA, will debate and 
explore issues surrounding employer engagement within higher education 
in a digital world. This year's keynote speaker is Marcus Orlovsky and 
the conference panel will include high profile graduate employers. The

4.3 Novice International Conference: Insights for online professional 
communities, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Bucharest, 4 – 5 October 2012
The conference aims to bring together those working in elearning, and 
members of any profession involved, or wishing to be involved, with 
their own online professional community. Though the NOVICE website 
focuses on the veterinary profession and veterinary education, the 
conference is open to any profession.

5.1 Call for papers for the Immersive Education Initiative, Paris 
Summit, 26-27 November
The theme for the 2nd European Immersive Education (iED) Summit is: 
Immersive Education: combining creativity, art and pedagogy. The two-day 
event is open to the global academic community and experts in immersion, 
simulation, learning games, virtual reality and full, augmented and 
mixed reality.
Important Dates: Paper submission - 27th July 2012, Notification of 
acceptance - 28th September 2012, Final paper submission - 26th October
