Salary: £23,811-£26,779 pa or £27,578-£35,938 pa
Applications are invited to take up an NIHR Senior Investigator's Research Methods Fellowship for a full-time Medical Statistician to be co-hosted by Prof Morris Brown (Clinical Pharmacology Unit) and Dr Chris Palmer (Centre for Applied Medical Statistics [CAMS], Department of Public Health and Primary Care) in the University of Cambridge. The post is designed to provide an opportunity to develop and train for a career in medical statistics. The successful candidate is likely to have, or be completing a Masters in some aspect of Statistics.
Within CAMS, the main duties will be as statistical consultant and collaborator to clinical researchers in Cambridge. This may include development of, or participation in, short course teaching to clinical researchers. The statistical focus of the Clinical Pharmacology Unit is in the design and analysis of clinical trials with an emphasis on novel design features such as multiple crossovers. These have been incorporated into the BHF/UKCRN PATHWAY programme of trials in hypertension, in whose data analysis plan the Fellow will be involved.
In summary, the Fellowship is an ideal opportunity to offer on-the-job training, with a balance between gaining experience across general medical statistics applications and with particular focus on clinical pharmacology studies.
The appointment will be at either Research Assistant or Research Associate level, depending upon prior qualifications and experience.
