JOB: BioSS, Social / Socio-Economic Statistician
Starting Salary £26,610 - £29,566 or £33,780 - £37,534 plus public
sector pension entitlements
We seek an applied statistician with strong methodological skills to be
a figurehead for making specialist statistical inputs to research in the
social and socio-economic sciences. The postholder will develop
collaborative projects with a range of scientists and have the
opportunity to undertake methodological development motivated by
problems encountered in these collaborations. This post will be based
in Aberdeen and will collaborate with researchers at The James Hutton
Institute and the University of Aberdeen’s Rowett Institute of Nutrition
and Health.
Applicants should have:
• a strong statistical background, with evidence of research ability
in a relevant area of statistical methodology;
• enthusiasm for interacting with applied scientists, and for
promoting the use of statistical methods to aid research in the social
and socio-economic sciences;
• excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
• a track record of achievement demonstrating personal contributions
to relevant research and applications for appointment to the higher grade.
