Hi, David ~
Just so!
As I stated in my reply to you, we < Tropical /
Hermetic Astrologers, &tc. > first consider the
Height of the Sun above the Horizon, and that
Point at which the Sun is at its Height is the
'Noon' of both the Day and the Year, and this is
the Angle of Fire - in the Southern Hemisphere,
this is in the North.
Likewise, the Point of 'Midnight' for the Year is
the Angle of Water, and in the Southern Hemisphere
this is in the South.

There are the Modern traditional northern correspondences,
which go back no further than the late 1800s [ Water -
Autumn - West, and Earth - Winter - North, typically ],
and then there are the traditional northern correspondences
which depend upon the Classical assignments derived from
Stoic Physics, as I have given them here.
See, for example :

The diagram above is the one we are translating / mirroring
between the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.
Note: It is precisely /because/ we < Tropical / Daemonic
Astrologers, &tc. > determine the Assignments of the
Four Elements to the Four Directions of the Compass using
the Four Seasons and *not* the Signs of the Zodiac that
we are able to effectively translate the correspondences
between the Northern and Southern Hemispheres in the first
place.
If we followed the Moderns in this and used the "Signs->
Elements->Directions" arrangement <proceeding in a top-down,
outside-in manner>, none of the original correspondences
would apply /at all/.
