and Monitoring Unit.

The Opportunity
This position in the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine
is the key role of the School’s research capacity in the area of
epidemiological modelling: the Monash
Epidemiological Modelling and Monitoring Unit (EMMU). The broad impact
of the position will be to provide an evidence base for improved
decision making in the area of chronic disease prevention and
management.
You will:
- Supervise and lead academic research staff working in the area of
epidemiological models
- Develop and apply epidemiological modelling methods to issues of
clinical and public health importance
- Produce high quality publications, conference presentations and
relevant reports
- Develop partnerships with the Australian and international academic community
This is a full-time position with three year fixed-term appointment
You will have:
- A PhD or equivalent research degree in an area such as
epidemiology, biostatistics, demography, mathematics or actuarial
studies
- Demonstrated leadership skills and/or expertise in management of a
research group
- Extensive experience in quantitative research involving large data-sets.
- An understanding of clinical or public health research and health policy
- A research track record of publication and having obtained research funding
- Effective communication & presentation skills.
The appointment will be made at a level appropriate to your
qualifications, experience and in accordance with classification
standards for each level.
This role is a full-time position; however flexible working
arrangements may be negotiated.
