Applications are invited for an experienced medical statistician or epidemiologist with clinical experience to join the School of Clinical Sciences at the University of Bristol.
Working full-time within the Musculoskeletal Research Unit, you will join a multi-disciplinary team that conducts a varied programme of clinical research into improving patient's experiences and outcomes of orthopaedic surgery. Your predominant role will be to provide statistical analysis for the National Joint Registry of England and Wales. This entails preparing the annual report, developing outlier methodology and undertaking research. In addition, you will support the research group on a variety of existing research projects. You will also contribute to the statistical design of new research proposals.
This post provides an excellent opportunity to play a central role in developing the National Joint Registry, the largest arthroplasty database in the world. Recent outputs from the team have included publications in the Lancet and the British Medical Journal. You will be encouraged to develop your skills in appropriate medical statistical techniques and methodologies, and to be an active member of a multi-disciplinary research team.
Salary: £33,884-£38,140
Grade: Level b in Pathway 2
Contract: Fixed Term Contract (24 months) in first instance. If successful, you may be appointed either on a fixed-term or an open-ended contract depending on the extent of your previous relevant research experience. Three years’ appropriate and relevant experience at another higher education institution would normally lead to an appointment on an open-ended contract.
