Hi All
A few weeks ago I made enquiry to the list re-grading library services
and Second Life.
Thanks to all those that responded, the information provided was very
useful.
Here is a summary of the information provided:
Many people pointed me in the direction of Sheila Webber from Sheffield
University,
http://information-literacy.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/Second%20Life
This blogs contains lots of information on the possibilities of Second
Life for library services.
The experience of many of those respondents who had set up some services
via Second Life wasn't very positive. Most had set up it with an initial
enthusiasm and interest that then fizzled out or the project failed to
engage students, who were either not interested or perceived it as a
waste of library staff time. Some reported technical problems with
downloading etc - although this was a few years ago and things may have
improved.
More positively, some found it useful for Information Literacy rather
than standard library services. Although student engagement was still
low.
Thanks again to all those that responded.
Kind regards
Mary
