Ooh that looks good.

But if these were on actual TVs it would be amazing!

There's also Newton TV which seems to be in partnership with the
Guardian now:

Hmm, not seen RI channel, thanks.

Though, that's sort of what I thought it might be like - at best TED Ed
for science. Interesting and useful for those who are interested in
such stuff.

However, I had a more lively, interactive thing in my mind. Discovery
channel looking good if that's what we want.

However I agree with Hillary on this one. It sounded boring to
me. A scientist with genuine interest in science! But with a catchy
discovery-type name I'm hooked!

Would like to see where this goes. Defiantly worth following up
this idea.

Nice idea!

However, science communication sounds a bit PRy, 'let's tell
people how great science is!' how about something a bit more
interactive, inclusive sounding.

One could argue that's what the Discovery Channel is already.
This would have to be more interactive, linked with web, events etc,
getting people involved, letting them have a say etc. That would be
interesting! I was part of something looking like The People's Research
Council, what about something like the People's Science Channel. Trouble
is with the S word, it will put lots of people off, so, like Discovery,
a better word needed.

Almost every week there are new channels appearing on digital
TV. Why is there not a Science Communication Channel containing science,
technology and medicine? Science Communication has broadened in so many
directions that there could be music, laughter and drama, as well as
news, discussion and engagement. Sky Arts is often praised, so why not
Sci-Com?

It is not that expensive to start a TV channel these days, and
there would be support from science research groups, institutes, etc.,
as well as ads from technology companies and health organisations. Given
that science is moving so fast and changing so many ideas there would be
no shortage of material.

And perhaps there could be a Science X-Factor competition to
encourage amateur research?
