THE 2012 IEEE Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems (15th IEEE ITSC) is the premier annual conference sponsored by the IEEE INTELLIGENT TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS SOCIETY (ITSS). Original and innovative contributions in ITS research and advanced implementations and deployments are sought for technical sessions. Please submit articles conveying new developments in theory, analytical and numerical simulation and modeling, experimentation, advanced deployment and case studies, results of laboratory or field operational tests, and other related creative endeavors as well as special educational developments for ITS curricula. The Transport and Planning section of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences at TU Delft is looking for a full professor Transport Networks and Transport Infrastructure. You will be responsible for education and research in the fields of: (1) Robust transport networks and transport infrastructure in order to accommodate changing transport flows; (2) Geometric design of roads (pedestrian, cycling, cars and public transport) and railroads; (3) Sustainable network and interface design methodologies; (4) Infrastructure planning. You will significantly expand the research programme through the acquisition of major research grants from industry and scientific foundations, and by attracting high-level MSc and PhD students.
The Transport and Planning section of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences is the largest transport research group at TU Delft comprising some 60 staff members. It has a strong international profile in scientific research and education in traffic and transport theory and modelling. For more info: www.transport.citg.tudelft.nl.
The ideal candidate has experience in several of the fields mentioned and has a holistic view on the design of Transport Networks and Transport Infrastructure enabling a visible, active and constructive contribution in practice as well as actively contributing to the discussion on the planning of Transport Networks & Transport Infrastructure. You will take an active and initiating role in national and international research in the field. You have a relevant scientific track record and have been successful in acquiring external research funding. Furthermore, you have relevant educational experience, as well as experience in supervising MSc students and PhD researchers. Finally, you have a clear vision and entrepreneurial and leadership skills, and you focus on results and quality.
This position has a commitment of 0,7 to 1,0 FTE. It is initially offered with a temporary contract for five years with the intention of converting this to permanent employment. The salary is minimally based on scale H2, but depending on experience, the salary may be increased to a maximum of € 8,622 (salary H1) per month gross.
