The April 2012 issue (No. 115) of YOUR FAMILY TREE magazine includes an article at pp. 46-9 on ‘The Salvation Army’ by Doreen Hopwood, which introduces the sources available to those pursuing genealogical research on Salvation Army members.
This is more up-to-date, but inevitably far less detailed, than Ray Wiggins, MY ANCESTORS WERE IN THE SALVATION ARMY (second edition, London: Society of Genealogists, 1999), which now seems to be out of print.
The Society of Genealogists has just added a new title to its successful MY ANCESTORS series: Ian Waller, MY ANCESTOR WAS A MORMON (2012, £9.99), which covers Mormon sources in Britain and the United States.
