On Wednesday, 14 March 2012, London Metropolitan University’s Board of Governors announced that they will be seeking a new home, custodian or sponsor for The Women’s Library’s collections, which have been housed by the University since 1977.
The University has been in financial difficulties for some time. If a new home is not found by the end of December 2012, the Library will move to opening hours of one day per week for a period of three years, with a further review at the end of that time.
A public petition expressing concern about the future of The Women's Library has been launched. It will be found at:

The Women's Library's rich collections of national and international women's history include much of religious interest. For example, there are archives of organizations such as the Girls' Friendly Society and Movement for the Ordination of Women, and many collections of personal papers (such as those of Agnes Maude Royden).
