Dear Mark,
Once the message has been posted to the list, it sits in everyone's email inboxes, rather than on a central server. The delayed responses are dependent on when people check their messages, which might be anytime over the next few days, although I'm optimistically hoping we've had the main flurry by now.
It's probably worth reiterating that if you're responding to a request for data or information, you should do so off-list in a separate email, unless it's likely to be of interest to other list members.
Kind regards,
Lalita

I am doing a simple task in class, about sampling and stats. I want to get as many people as possible to answer a quick question.
Here it is
What is the first number between 1 and 10 that comes into your mind.
Not hard science here but a bit of fun for the students.

Report launch with a keynote speech from Rt Hon Andrew Mitchell MP, Secretary of State for International Development Thursday 26 April 2012: 0830 to 1030hrs
A Royal Society report on global population, consumption and the environment.
Please join us from 8.30am on Thursday 26 April 2012 for the launch of a major policy report from the Royal Society.
Rapid and widespread changes in the world's human population, coupled with unprecedented levels of consumption, present profound challenges to human health and wellbeing, and to the natural environment. Although a lot is known about these linkages, they do not feature prominently in international debates about sustainable development. In the run up to
Rio+20, the United Nations
Conference on Sustainable Development, taking place this June, the Royal Society offers this report; the result of a wide-ranging, international study.
The Chair of the Royal Society's international Working Group, Nobel Laureate Sir John Sulston FRS, and three of the Working Group members will present the report's findings, describe the challenges and the opportunities that such changes will present for people and the planet and discuss the prospects for genuinely sustainable development. The Rt Hon Andrew Mitchell MP, Secretary of State for International Development, will offer his thoughts on the importance of including population in sustainable development discussions.
Speakers:
- Opening remarks from Sir Paul Nurse FRS, President of the Royal Society
- Sir John Sulston FRS, Chair, Royal Society People and the Planet Working Group
- Rt Hon Andrew Mitchell MP, Secretary of State for International Development
- Professor Sarah Harper, Director, Oxford Institute of Population Ageing, University of Oxford
- Dr Eliya Zulu, Executive Director, African Institute for Development Policy
- Professor Jules Pretty OBE, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, University of Essex
We hope you can join us for this event. Please arrive at the Royal Society at 8.30am for light refreshments. The discussion will run from 9.00-10.30am. Please RSVP to [log in to unmask] by Friday 13 April.
