I am hoping to pick your brains on the subject of work related injuries/illness with reference to the employer's responsibilities or obligations. We have a warehouse operative who injured his leg at work 4 weeks ago and currently unfit for his physical role which requires very heavy lifting. Following an OH assessment, this employee has insisted he will return to work to do this role despite our advice. His main concerns are financial as the employer will not pay whilst he is off sick. Also the employer has not offered to send him for any treatment - he is currently awaiting physio on the NHS through his GP.
