Hi Paul.
Waiutu & Prohibition shaft area are quite interesting, there is an egg ended
/ hand riveted air receiver at the Prohibition shaft & a steam hammer at the
Waiutu site. Further down the valley are the cyanide tanks & lots of
Californian stamps lifters / & other bits & pieces.
At the Reefton information centre there is Holman steam winding engine
(which for a dollar will run by electric motor for a couple of mins).
Hope this is of interest.
Regards, Bob Orchard.

Subject: Mining Remains in New Zealand
Hello
I am currently planning a visit to New Zealand to look at their
stationary and marine steam engines.
I am aware of some mining remains there that will be of interest to me
but can anyone on this list give me any pointers to places worth
visiting or contact e-mail addresses that might be useful please.
Especially anything with remaining stationary or portable engines,
regardless of condition, will be of particular interest.
In the fullness of time I will, of course, be happy to share information
with others who might wish to do something similar
