It is not "merely" a technical quibble. There is a similar quibble in
the review of "The Benedictines", where the complaint seems to be about
the fact that most monks didn't become Benedictine until 817, that there
was essentially only one Monastic Order until 1215 - and even then the
Benedictines didn't really become an "Order". (This is essentially the
argument over the origins of the Cistercians - that they didn't become
an order until 1215.)
