Dear Colleagues,
I have posted recently about #media2012, a research-led media change
project taking place around the London 2012 Olympics. This is a
project that attempts to rethink how media coverage of the Games
should be organized, taking into account the expansion of citizen
journalism, decline of newspaper sales, anxieties about media ethics
and opportunities afforded by social media to reach new audiences.
The project looks at the Olympics as a lens for understanding media
change and is attempting to create an alternative media channel to the
Games. I have given talks at various academic meetings on this project
over the last year and we've just learned that the project has been
shortlisted for an award. As such, I am appealing to your commitment
to media studies to ask that you take 5 seconds and vote for
#media2012. The winner will be decided on the basis of public vote
volume, so it's important to use if you can take the time. Here's the
link, you just need to click on our video to vote...

As the most controlled media event in history, #media2012 tries to
open up reporting of the Games a little further.
Best wishes and please share across social media. We have 5 days.
