Network Mapping is the leading provider of topographical and as-built surveys utilising aerial and terrestrial LiDAR data alongside a variety of other remotely sensed data. We are seeking an enthusiastic and capable candidate to fill a challenging technical role based in our Knaresborough Technology Centre, North Yorkshire.
Initially the role as a Remote Sensing Technician will be a temporary position, for a duration of 3 months. However this period may be extended – we have several members of the team who are now enjoying permanent employment in the company having joined on a temporary basis.
The Remote Sensing Department is responsible for the post-processing of a range of remotely sensed data captured by our operations teams. Typically, the role of a Remote Sensing Technician involves the production of a spatially correct LiDAR point cloud and an orthorectified set of aerial imagery.
Ideally the candidate will have knowledge of one or more of the following areas:
Remote Sensing (especially LiDAR)
GPS and GNSS systems
Geodesy, Photogrammetry
GIS and/or Surveying.
One of the important aspects of our work is to ensure that the outputs are produced to a high standard and that the spatial accuracy of the data complies with specification, meaning that close attention to detail is required. The candidate should be able to demonstrate critical thinking and an innovative approach to problem solving.
It is essential that the candidate is IT literate and confident in the use of Microsoft Office applications, it would also be advantageous to have experience in GIS/CAD software. Ideally the candidate will have a scientific background related to one of the subject areas listed above and/or mathematics, and is educated to degree level or has relevant work experience.
