I am currently seeking a GIS/AutoCAD Technician for a role in the West Of Scotland. The contract is initially 6 months in duration. The successful candidate will be working within the GIS team. The role will be to provide assistance with the provision of Auto CAD drawings and GIS mapping to project managers within our organisation
The successful candidate will have to work well within the GIS team. They will also need to establish good working relationships with the project managers in the other departments. It may also be necessary for them to liaise with external clients from time to time, and also with key stakeholders and suppliers.
Tasks
•Production of AutoCAD construction & electrical drawings
•Production of GIS maps
•Upkeep of graphics database
oObtaining and organising data acquired from other sources
oEnsuring drawing logs are kept up to date
oArchiving
•Application of the QA system to all graphics material produced for external issue in line with ISO requirements
•Any other tasks relevant to the above
Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of the successful candidate will be for the production of AutoCAD drawings in line with the tasks outlined above.
Person Specification
They should be:
•Highly self-motivated
•Thorough and methodical
•Be able to prioritise and organise tasks
•Calm under pressure and be versatile and flexible
Experience
The successful candidate should have in the region of two years of experience. My client would also consider more recent graduates who can demonstrate that their degree courses intensively used the relevant software, and that they have the necessary knowledge and skills.
A background, or some experience, in planning, construction or the development of renewable energy projects would be advantageous but not essential.
Knowledge
The successful candidate will be an experienced user of AutoCAD in a building or civil engineering context, ideally with some competence in the Civil 3D package. Preferably they will also have a degree of experience and knowledge of GIS software (ArcGIS) and Adobe Creative Suite. Knowledge of Microsoft Office is essential

•Meticulous in attention to detail
•Efficient and well organised, and capable of working to tight deadlines
•Ability to work unsupervised
•Excellent IT and problem solving skills
•Good eye for clear and logical presentation of data
