The project "What’s Hard in German" (WHiG) started in July 2009 and
ends in June 2012. Our aim was to compile an essay corpus of
undergraduate students in their second and final year. For more

After a highly successful DaF/corpus workshop in 2011, we are now
organising another workshop for 2012 and are inviting applications for
participation:
Title: Korpora und DaF-Materialien – eine praktische Werkstatt
Dates: Tuesday-Wednesday, 26-27 June 2012
Location: Bangor University (North Wales)
Registration Deadline: Monday, 30 April 2012
Fees: gratis (includes refreshments, 2 lunches, and a USB stick)
On Day 1, we will introduce delegates to Corpus Linguistics, its
theories and tools.
On Day 2, we will assist delegates with creating corpus-informed
learning and teaching materials to take home.
The ideal delegate:
- teaches German
- wants to find new ways of looking at German
- wants to find new ways to teach German
- likes language but does not have be a linguist
- can be creative
Delegates have to opportunity to freely obtain the license for our 2
corpora:
- WHiG (British learners of German)
- Falko-L1 (German native speakers)
