Principal Duties:
This position will provide oversight and direction to Dr. Richard J. Davidson's research operations including the Waisman Laboratory for Brain Imaging and Behavior and the Center for Investigating Healthy Minds, at the Waisman Center. The Waisman Center is dedicated to the advancement of knowledge about human development, developmental disabilities, and neurodegenerative diseases. One of only 15 centers of its kind in the United States, the Waisman Center encompasses laboratories for biomedical and behavioral research, a brain imaging center, and a clinical biomanufacturing facility. In addition to its research efforts, the Center provides an array of services to people with developmental disabilities, offers numerous early intervention, educational, and outreach programs to young children and their families, and trains scientists and clinicians who will serve our nation in the future.
The Scientific Director will work in partnership with Dr. Davidson, a globally recognized leader in the fields of affective and contemplative neuroscience, and his collaborative leadership team in three key areas: strategic planning and setting research direction, ensuring the research conducted is at the highest quality level, and providing high-level project oversight so as to ensure the research is conducted as efficiently as possible. It is anticipated that the Scientific Director would become a scientific collaborator on many of the research projects for which he/she was providing oversight.
