The following three-month post at the British Library might be of interest to newly-qualified archivists
£24,582 - £27,986 per annum, pro rata
3 months fixed term
With responsibility for delivering catalogue data for the digitised India Office Records in the Botany in British India project, you will create concise records in the IAMS cataloguing system for around 100 archives. In addition, you will be responsible for quality-checking samples of the digitised images and for preparing the images for presentation on the Library's Digital Item Presentation Service (DIPS). As time allows, you will write content for associated web pages to explain the context of the records. In the role, you will work independently within the India Office Records section, under an archivist's supervision.
With experience of cataloguing nineteenth-century archives, and with a thorough knowledge of the cataloguing standards ISAD(G) and ISAAR (CPF), you will be resourceful, flexible, and well organised. You will have the highest standards of accuracy and attention to detail, and a real ability to describe complicated material concisely and clearly. You will be comfortable liaising with colleagues in Records and the Digital Curator team, and your project-management skills will ensure that this particular part of the project is run smoothly and delivered to time.
