Registration is now open for the following courses:
Inspirational Leadership within a Statistical Organisation, 12-13 September 2012
This two day workshop aims to enhance participants’ understanding of effective leadership behaviours, with particular emphasis on leading through periods of uncertainty, change and when facing dilemmas; increase their understanding of techniques for sustaining high performance teams; and enhance their overall impact and effectiveness through increased self-awareness and the use of productive communication approaches.
Presenting Data, 11 October 2012
This one day training event provides the foundation to all presentations of statistical information. The basic principles of presenting information in tables, charts, maps and text are explained. These are illustrated and then reinforced through practical exercises. The day will be a mix of presentation, tuition and exercises which all reinforce the communication message.
Developing and Testing Survey Questions, 15 November 2012
This one day training event is designed to give participants a good grounding in the essentials of questionnaire design, from both the survey experimental literature and practical experience. It will look at individual survey questions and the questionnaire as a whole for both interview and self-completion questionnaires. The course also includes industry standards for testing survey questions, covering traditional methods to more recent innovations in question testing (e.g., expert review, systematic forms appraisal, respondent debriefing, behaviour coding, cognitive interviewing, and focus groups for question testing).
Multilevel Modelling, 6-7 December 2012
This course is designed to give participants an introduction to the theory and application of multilevel models. It will be based around theoretical sessions followed by “hands-on” practical sessions illustrating the theoretical concepts. The hands-on sessions will use the MLwiN software package.
