Played in Britain series editor Simon Inglis, author of a forthcoming book
on the sporting heritage of London (to be published in November), and
English Heritage host a series of five early evening events at:
The Gallery, Cowcross Street, Farringdon, London
every Thursday in May, 7.00-8.30 (exhibition opens 5.30 to ticket holders
only)
The series including interviews and discussions with the architects of the
2012 Olympic Stadium (Rod Sheard of Populous) and the 2012 Aquatic Centre
(Keith Ashton of S&P Architects, joined by pool historian Dr Ian Gordon); an
evening on the real London games: darts and skittles (with Dr Patrick
Chaplin and Arthur Taylor, winner of the 2010 Katherine Briggs Folklore
Award), a conversation with Dr Martin Polley, on London's Olympic heritage,
and an introduction to Played in London by Simon Inglis.
An exhibition on London's sporting heritage accompanies the events.
