Dear Pieter,

perhaps copying header info before going to analyze, and writing that 
information back into the header when you convert it back to nifti might 
work (assuming the image itself isnt touched by your tools, which is a 
big IF). But this all depends on your tools that I dont know.

I became very wary of this conversion when I once tried it, and ever 
since I make a large detour whenever I spot anything Analyze on my way. 
Rewrote all our viewers/software to be nifti complient, makes life a lot 
easier...
