I just got a new computer with Ubuntu 11.10 and reinstalled Matlab, SPM8
and VBM8 updated all. I tried to Run Estimate & Write but got the
following error.

I installed matlab with instructions from the site
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MATLAB but the GNU Compiler 4.3 failed
to install. After reading
http://www.potterswheel.de/Pages/API/pwCompileFortranIntegrators.html, I
realized that this a compatibility problem with Ubuntu 11.10 and Matlab
7(2011b).
I even tried the troubleshooting instructions from this site
(http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/SPM/Installation_on_64bit_Linux) The find
and delete ldstc++ on the /home/user/matlab/2011b/mexopts.sh. but that did
not work either.
I tried the instructions below:
https://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/cgi-bin/webadmin?A2=SPM;ec292f3f.0801
and ran the following below in matlab:
>> wd=pwd;
>> chdir(fullfile(spm('dir'),'toolbox','DARTEL'))
>> make chdir(wd)
and got this errors (which is expect b/c of the GNU complier compatibility
issues)
Warning: You are using gcc version "4.6.1-9ubuntu3)".
The version currently supported with MEX is "4.3.4".
For a list of currently supported compilers see:
http://www.mathworks.com/support/compilers/current_release/
But the suggestion from a previous post seemed to work at first, but
failed once again
