Hi,
La Petite Voleuse, partially written by Truffaut but unfinished at his death was produced by Claude Miller, his assistant turned director (1988).
Initially planned as a sub-plot for Les 400 Coups, this story was filed for a future full-length script by Truffaut.
25 years later, Truffaut wrote a synopsis with Claude de Givray and gave it to Claude Berri. After the death of Truffaut Berri offered it to Miller who had worked with Truffaut for 10 years.

Hi Anna,
There is an excellent book with all the unfilmed screenplays by Antonioni but...it's in French:
Antonioni (2004) 'Scenarios non realises', Images Modernes.
It includes all his projects of films, documentaries and scripts (published in Italy before as 'the films under the drawer') plus 2 other unfilmed screenplays.
There is also a life for unfilmed screenplays as a prestigious reading was produced (filmed) of an unfilmed screenplay by Jacques Tati, 'Confusion'. See below:

Hope this is useful,
Nathalie Henry

Subject: question about unfilmed screenplays
Hi everybody,
I was wondering if anyone knows any good examples of forgotten screenplays re-discovered and made into a film or stage play many years later. I am looking into a contemporary theatre performance with a compilation of Bergmans unfilmed screenplays and I am looking for examples to compare with. There is clearly an archival approach in this project, the texts are interesting to the stage director because they represent the forgotten or the hidden side of an otherwise well known authorship. If anyone knows good examples to compare with so let me know.
All the best, Anna Sofia Rossholm
