Postdoctoral Position in Crete, Greece
Applications are invited for a 3-year postdoctoral research position in
the area of infrared astronomy at the Astrophysics Group of the
University of Crete (Greece). Applicants should have obtained a Ph.D. in
astronomy or a related field by the starting date of the appointment.
The position will be under the supervision of Prof. V. Charmandaris, and
it is part of a large programme that involves researchers at the
National Observatory of Athens, University of Athens, University of
Crete, MPE/Munich, CEA/Saclay, Bologna, Oxford and CfA/Harvard.
The successful candidate will have access to infrared data from major
surveys carried out by Spitzer and Herschel, is expected to be
self-motivated with experience in the modeling and interpretation of
galaxy SEDs. The Astrophysics Group in Crete currently consists of 7
faculty members. Over the years it has established close collaborations
with infrared and X-rays groups with leading institutes in Europe and
the US. The group also operates the 1.3m telescope at Skinakas

The starting date of the post is in Autumn 2012 and the gross monthly
