Dear all
I am a PhD student at Queen’s University Belfast and am contacting you regarding a systematic review and meta-analysis myself and my supervisor (Martin Dempster) are currently engaged with. Having identified all relevant studies using electronic/hand-searching means I am now endeavouring to contact relevant individuals to ensure catchment of all relevant research.
The review aims to identify all published/unpublished studies detailing interventions based on the Common-Sense Model of Illness Behaviour (Leventhal et al,1980 etc) for individuals with chronic illness.
The eligibility criteria for the review are broad, summarised as follows.
Intervention studies which…
- are based on at least one element of the Common-Sense Model
- have been developed for adults with chronic illness (Defined by the World Health Organisation (2002) as requiring ‘ongoing management over a period of years or decades’ and can include communicable diseases (e.g. AIDS, Tuberculosis), uncommunicable diseases (e.g. heart disease, cancer) as well as certain mental disorders (e.g. depression, schizophrenia) and ongoing physical/structural impairments (e.g. visual impairment)
- aim to improve a health-related outcome
- use, at minimum, an experimental design of two condition groups (treatment and control)
I would be very grateful if you could contact me if yourself or your colleagues have engaged in research relevant to this review or would be aware of any relevant studies. I can be contacted on [log in to unmask] Many thanks for your help.
