Hello all
Can anyone help an organiser of a science Easter school for 16 to 18 year olds with a speaker or activity to entertain the attendees with an amazing science (if poss biology-related) talk/ demo/ activity in Cambridge on 3rd April?
Details are:
We are running an Easter School at the University of Cambridge between 2-5 April. On the second evening (3rd) from 7ish we want to hold an evening where students can get all excited and geeky about their subject interests through fun sessions. (e.g. in the second week a group are going to the observatory). Here are the details:
Location: Corpus Christi, University of Cambridge
Date: Tues 3rd April
Time: 7-9.30pm (we can work around this a bit but it has to be evening)
Age: These are year 12s so 16-18 (some repeaters, some advanced from yr 11)
Topic: Anything science but most of them have greatest interest in biological sciences
Big catch: No budget! Although we might be able to cover travel, food and a bed for the night for the right person.
I want to know who I should be talking to as Cambridge students and academics have not been the best resource. We have teachers who may even be able to run something if we had resources and we can leave the campus (was thinking botanic gardens but they close at 6ish).
Please email Ruth Squire [log in to unmask] if you are able to advise or help.
Thanks!

It does seem a truly heroic quest, to 'steal fire from the sun' on behalf of mankind.
Wasn't the Greek hero Prometheus also advised against attempting exactly the same enterprise?
The Prometheus legend isn't terribly useful for PR purposes though, since mankind's punishment for such audacity was Pandora's Box, which, when opened, released all the ills of the world...
