The Royal Society is pleased to announce a new partnership with the government of Brazil and CAPES to provide 350 research centres and institutions of higher education in Brazil with access to the Royal Society journal collection.
=============================================
CAPES, or Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior, is a Brazilian public organization part of the Ministry of Education which provides its member institutions with online access to many Science and Technology publications via the portal www.periodicos.capes.gov.br. In the last two decades, CAPES initiatives have focused on the dissemination of scientific knowledge, making CAPES a key contributor in advancing Brazil's scientific standing globally.
The Royal Society publishes nine leading journals covering a wide range of subject areas across the physical and life sciences, and is pleased to introduce these journals into the CAPES collection portfolio of reputable educational resources.
Access to Royal Society journal collection is now available via the Portal de Periodicos and includes the complete journal archive, one of the most valuable and longest running, scientific resources in existence, dating from 1665 to the present day. The Portal de Periodicos is accessible to researchers, professors, students and librarians across Brazil.
Dr Stuart Taylor, Commercial Director of the Royal Society, says "We are delighted to have agreed this new collaboration with CAPES and Brazil which will greatly enhance the dissemination of our published scientific research and we are excited to be able to play a part in Brazil's future growth and development".
The Royal Society's journals date back to 1665 and the launch of the world's first peer-reviewed scientific journal, and shares a common goal with CAPES of providing access to the best science to facilitate new scientific discovery.
SystemsLink's valuable contribution throughout the communications between the Royal Society and CAPES has helped this successful partnership come to realisation.
Following this much welcomed collaboration with CAPES, we extend our invitation to Librarians and Information Professionals in Latin America to contact the Royal Society and discuss how we can help their users and institutions gain access to the Royal Society journal collection. The Royal Society is happy to discuss new collaborative opportunities, working together, to achieve common goals of supporting scientific education worldwide.
