Also at UKSG the SCARLET project was described by my colleague, Jo Lambert:
"This session will present the SCARLET Project (Special Collections using Augmented Reality to Enhance Learning
and Teaching), a JISC-funded collaboration between Mimas, the John Rylands University Library and academics from the
University of Manchester."
A pilot course, 'Beyond the Text: The Book and its Body' developed SCARLET content around 10 key editions of Dante's Divine Comedy (15th century). In recent weeks students at the University of Manchester have selected and researched a Dante book from the University's Special Collections for their first course essay. At the same time they've been able to access SCARLET content via iPads in the reading room of the library. The project makes use of the 'Junaio' free app for iPhone/Pad.
Another course is being developed using St John's Papyri for use in advanced Greek classes.
