WORKSHOP - INTRODUCTION TO STATA (10 pm to 4 pm 17 April 2012)
The Health Economics and Health Technology Appraisal (HEHTA) Research Group is offering a one day workshop on introduction to Stata.
Who is the course aimed at?
This course is designed for anyone who wishes to learn to use Stata.
What are the learning objectives of the course?
By the end of the course, participants should be able to use Stata to:
. Input data
. Add labels to a dataset to make it self-documenting
. Recode variables and derive new variables from existing ones
. Produce summary statistics, tables and graphs
. Keep a record of their work and ensure it is reproducible
. Run basic statistical analysis
What will this course cover?
This course provides a basic introduction to the statistical software package Stata. However, this course will not include the formal teaching of medical statistics.
Prerequisites
No previous knowledge of Stata or of statistics is required.
The course will be 'hands-on', and participants will be expected to bring a laptop computer (and mouse). Enrolled participants who do not have Stata will be provided with a temporary Stata licence.
