Fastidious hand washing and the wearing of a mask are yet the most effective ways to prevent the spread of fomites. Human nature indicates no one will carefully stack their used tissue, wash there hands and then open the microwave door, place the contaminated tissue in the microwave, and re wash their hands prior to closing the door and turning on the microwave. blow your nose or sneeze, throw the tissue away, and wash your hands in soapy water.
If people new what is grown from hospital surveillance cultures of medical staff desks, hands, and mustaches, they would string us all up.

Like some others, I prefer the tissue option.
If you sneeze onto your sleeve, then whatever you eject
will end up in your clothing and will be likely to infect
others, particularly those whose friendly approach involves
grasping your elbow.
As to the tissues, depending on how copious your mucus
discharge may be, with frequent sneezing etc. you may
fear that wasteful undue using-up of tissues may ensue.
Fear not! You may think that a well-wetted tissue should
be disposed of at once. But no. Instead, put it on one
side, and it will dry out. Meanwhile, use some more tissues
(and treat these in the same way). You can then re-use the
dried-out tissues, i.e. recycle them sustainably.
Of course, in the end they will go all crispy, like
prawn crackers, and then you should dispose of them.
But your total consumption will be much lower.
Hoping this helps,
Ted.
