(crossposted: comp.lang.fortran, comp-fortran-90)
Thank you very much about your comments/feedback. We will introduce most of the suggested changes/enhancements in the "official poll" next week.
We missed some general remarks in our initial post:
> A) For what end purpose? Will it make any difference whether you
> continue to support whatever legacy Fortran application it is or
> influence your further direction or...?
"We are working since some time ago on Fortran Legacy software" was meant "in general". As a matter of fact, we have seen several legacy applications (approx. a hundred, maybe) and had to work more or less intensively on one or two of them. We are trying to define a methodology and, perhaps, some (enhancements to) specific tools for which "we would like to characterize some important issues from researchers, Fortran software developers, Fortran standard meeting group members, etc." (this would lead us to select the option "influence your further direction" option above...).
> B) Who, specifically, are "we" and where will these poll results go?

Thanks in advance,

We apologize we did not make this explicit in the initial post: the poll results will be available online as well as the poll. We will announce both URLs by April 4th, Wednesday.
Also,
1) We are "processing" your replies and including many changes in the poll. We will read replies up to the day we announce the poll URL. We are also trying to avoid including (many) other questions in order to maintain the more or less low number of questions (and required time to answer). We may still fail, of course...
2) I'm particularly happy with so many replies explaining the "non good choice" (with different levels of emphasis, of course) of the option "Fortran is the best language". We are trying to change the wording of the question as well as deleting this specific option.
And, of course, I'm learning a lot (while having fun too).
Thanks,
Fernando.
