Dear All,
See below and attached : I have written to Carol Allen, BPS president, to urge her to re-iterate the BPS position to David Cameron before Tuesday [log in to unmask]
Others might wish to do so too?
Good wishes,
Annie

Subject: urgent please lobby your college to restate its position on Health Bill before Tuesday
Dear All
The Health and Social Care Bill is being debated on Tuesday 13th March in Parliament, as a result of the e-petition. This is the last vote on the whole Bill in Parliament before it becomes law, and the last chance to defeat it.
There is still a small chance that some Lib Dem MPs could be persuaded to vote against it, in the light of the Lib Dem conference defeat of a motion supporting the Bill.
It is crucial that ahead of this debate the Royal Colleges reiterate their position about the Bill and write to Parliamentarians , either singly or together with other Royal Colleges to restate their position.
Many presidents are holding back - even given their stated position following EGMs and surveys. One feels that they do not agree with the views of their Members and this is showing in their reticence to do what is expected of them.
Please do everything you can to put pressure on them - write, email, tweet (with the relevant @ sign) now before it is too late, including organisations where the position is well known such as RCGP.
Please urgently cascade this to colleagues in the different health colleges and organisations, including nurses and other health professionals. I attach a document detailing current official positions.
This all has to be done BEFORE TUESDAY.
Thanks
Louise
