Dear Richard (and all),
Glad to hear you are standing for this role, Richard.
I;d urge people who are British Psychological Society Division of Clinical Psychology members to use their vote.
This role does have some political and social influence, and it would be great to have someone in it who would further raise the profile of issues of social justice with a critical yet constructive take on psychological practice.
Carole Allen, President of BPS has been very receptive to calls to lobby David Cameron re the Health and Social Care Bill: maybe we can hope that our profession is becoming more socially and politically engaged in a critically reflective way. Hard to be hopeful in these tough times, but I do think we need all the critical engagement we can muster.

Subject: [COMMUNITYPSYCHUK] DCP UK Chair
I am a member of the section and have thrown my hat in the ring for the UK Chair of the DCP. The voting papers are just out.
I know that a lot members of the list see the BPS as part of the problem and not part of the solution and also have an unsurprisingly critical view of many aspects of Clinical Psychology. I dont totally buy this analysis and think we need to be using our professional structures for socially progressive ends. Psychology is what we all make it?
You are encouraged not to electioneer as a candidate.
There are four candidates and it is important that Clin Psychs vote so that whoever gets this difficult position has a mandate and a reasonable level of support.
Richard Pemberton
